Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Variance iOS app (the "App") or by accessing thequantprepapp.com (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App or the Site.

2. Eligibility

Variance is not directed to children under 13. If you identify as under 13, you may not use the App. We may block access based on age information you provide.

If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

3. Guest Mode and Accounts

The App offers guest mode and optional account creation. Guest gameplay is stored locally on your device.

If you later sign in or create an account on that device, the App may claim local guest progress into your signed-in account so it can sync across devices.

Account creation and sign-in may be available through email one-time passcode, Sign in with Apple, and Google sign-in. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account credentials and device access secure.

4. Account Data and Synced Features

If you use an account, Variance may store account and profile data such as your display name, username, full name, email address, and subscription status.

Signed-in features may include syncing gameplay data such as game sessions, scores, leaderboard-related data, and brain-teaser progress. If you participate in leaderboards, your display name, username, and scores may be visible to other users.

5. Subscriptions, Billing, and Restore Purchases

Auto-renewable subscriptions are sold only through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple, not Variance, handles billing, renewals, cancellations, and refunds under Apple's terms and policies.

The App includes a Restore Purchases flow. To validate purchases and restore entitlements, we may store subscription status and Apple original transaction identifiers.

You are responsible for reviewing Apple's current pricing, billing terms, and subscription settings before making a purchase.

6. Account Deletion

The App includes an in-app Delete Account flow. When you use that flow, we delete account data, synced gameplay data, bug reports, and linked operational records from active systems.

Deleting your account does not automatically cancel Apple subscription billing. If you have an active subscription, you must cancel it through the App Store or your Apple account settings.

7. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the App or Site in violation of applicable law or regulation
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or interfere with the App, Site, or related systems
• Use bots, scripts, or other automated methods to access or misuse the App or Site
• Misrepresent your identity, age, or eligibility to use the App
• Use offensive, misleading, or infringing names or content in leaderboards or profile fields
• Exploit bugs, security issues, or subscription flows instead of reporting them

8. Intellectual Property

The App, Site, and their content, including software, text, graphics, logos, gameplay, question content, and other materials, are owned by Variance or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Except as expressly allowed by law, you may not copy, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from them without our written permission.

9. No Affiliation

Variance is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to any financial firm, investment bank, hedge fund, trading firm, university, academic institution, or any other organization. Any firm names, university names, or other third-party names that may appear in practice content are used solely for educational context and do not imply any relationship, partnership, or endorsement. All trademarks and registered trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

10. Disclaimers

Variance is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not promise that the App or Site will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

Variance is an educational and training product. It does not guarantee any interview result, academic result, employment result, or other outcome.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Variance and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the App or Site.

12. Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the App or Site if we believe you have violated these Terms, created risk for other users, or created risk for Variance. Upon termination, your right to use the App and Site will stop immediately.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, the App, or the Site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we may update the date at the top of this page and provide additional notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the App or Site after the updated Terms take effect means you accept them.
